HOW DO I APPLY FOR A JOB AT BURKE’S?

If you are over 18 years of age and interested in a future position at Burke’s Book Store please submit a resume to info@burkesbooks.com. All resumes will be kept on file for any future available positions. Please include education, past employment and skills/interests. Customer/retail/service experience is preferred. Book/literature knowledge is plus. Weekend availability is a must.

     Typical staff position duties and requirements include:

     Weekend availability 

     Waiting on and ringing up customers

     Answering phone calls

     Use of point-of-sale system

     Packaging orders for mail out

     Gift wrapping

     Processing and shelving inventory

     Ability to lift and move boxes and books up to 40 lbs

     Cleaning, straightening, dusting, sweeping, organizing shelves, sections          and back areas of store

     Opening and closing duties

I’VE WRITTEN A BOOK! HOW DO I GET IT ON THE SHELVES AT BURKE’S?

 We are a small store and our space for newly published books is tight. Therefore we are very selective about the new books that we stock. IF your book is stocked by Ingram Book Company we will consider stocking it. For ease of inventory and bookkeeping we get all of our new books from Ingram. We do not buy direct from authors or do consignment. If you have a book to submit for consideration please send information to info@burkesbooks.com. We would appreciate it if authors would use this process rather than coming in person and dropping off physical copies.

BURKE’S DOES NOT STOCK THE BOOK I AM LOOKING FOR. CAN IT BE ORDERED?

We do weekly orders to our book distributor, Ingram Book Company in Nashville. That means if the book is in stock at Ingram we can typically have the book in less than a week. Due to space constraints we can’t stock all the books we want and we appreciate customers being willing to wait a few days and let us special order items.

If the title you are looking for is out of print we recommend bookfinder.com to search for used copies of out of print titles.

IS THE BURKE’S INVENTORY LISTED ON THE WEBSITE?

Yes! 95% of our new and used inventory is listed at burkesbooks.com. Our inventory is updated on a daily basis. All titles may be ordered through our website. We offer shipping by USPS or UPS.

DOES BURKE’S PURCHASE USED BOOKS?

We do. For all of the details go to https://www.burkesbooks.com/we-buy-books.php. We do not do appraisals of books but can recommend local book dealers.
