Poet and Burke’s Book Store owner, Corey Mesler was at Burke’s on April 3rd reading from and signing copies of his first full-length poetry collection, Some Identity Problems (Foothills Publishing, $16 each for signed copies).

Mesler, who has numerous chapbooks (small collections) of both prose and poetry in print, has now published his first book-length collection. Some Identity Problems, more than just a “greatest hits” package of his widely published poems, swings with music and sways with compassion and wit. It’s the kind of poetry to lie down with and ruminate on.

“Mesler is one of the few truly unique voices in the small press scene today.  Direct, surprising, often profound, his poetry / prose combo conjures a language that inspires me as few writers do...[these] are gems that leave their images long after the reading. --

L. Ward Abel, author of Peach Box and Verge and Jonesing for Byzantium.

Corey Mesler owns Burke’s Book Store and is also a novelist, poet and book reviewer. He also claims to have written, “These Boots are Made for Walking.” Mesler will also be signing two new chapbooks, one prose (Publisher) and one poetry (Pictures from Lang and Fellini). Come help us celebrate Corey’s first full-length poetry book, National Poetry Month and Burke’s Book Store’s one year anniversary in our new Cooper-Young location.
