Piecework, Corey Mesler's collection of poems, with artwork by Suzanne Moore, conveys perfect synergy of poet and artist. The publisher, The Wing and the Wheel Press, does a wonderful job showcasing the art in harmony with the written word.
Before Piecework, Corey has appeared in numerous literary magazines including Yellow Silk, Green Egg and Poet Lore. He has work in a few anthologies including Full Court: Stories and Poems for Hoop Fans, where he appears alongside his hero, John Updike, which makes him gloat unashamedly.
The suite of paragrams (calligraphic allusions to the text) was drawn by Suzanne Moore to complement the poems. Her work melds, weaves and plays with visual & verbal messages in her lettering and painting. Her manuscript books are included in private collections in the United States and abroad and in the collections of the Pierpont Morgan Library, the Library of Congress, the James S. Copley Library and the Houghton Library at Harvard University, among others. Piecework is her first editioned publication as paragramist.
