Beth Ann Fennelly will be at Burke’s Book Store on Thursday, May 1st, from 5 to 6:30 PM to read from and sign copies of her new collection of poems, Unmentionables (Norton, $23.95 hardback). Reading will begin at 6 pm.
With elegant wordplay and her usual subversive wit, Beth Ann Fennelly explores the “unmentionable”—not only what is considered too bold for mention but also what can’t be said because words are insufficient.
"Fennelly’s poems aren’t mannered, needless to say. They’re plain, funny and raw.”
This event coincides with the second Cooper Young Night Out. The first Thursday of every month, from 5 to 9 p.m., the restaurants and shops of Cooper Young will be offering special menus, discounts, live music, sidewalk sales, art and more.
Beth Ann Fennelly is the author of Great with Child: Letters to a Young Mother and Tender Hooks. A professor of English at the University of Mississippi, she lives in Oxford with her husband, the novelist, Tom Franklin, and their children.
