We had a book signing for poet and Burke’s Book Store Owner, Corey Mesler on Saturday, June 30th, from 2 to 4 PM for his new chapbook The Chloe Poems (Maverick Duck Press, $5 paperback). Also here to sign with him was his daughter, Chloe Mesler, inspiration for the poems and creator of the chapbook’s cover art.

This chapbook represents 11 years of poems about Chloe, who is now, yes, 11. They go literally from birth to the present day, constructed partly of heart’s blood and partly of awe. Chloe’s cover art, inspired by Frida Kahlo, sets the tone for the slim collection, a book of familial love, and inchoate spirituality.

Corey Mesler owns Burke’s and is also a novelist, poet and book reviewer.

Chloe Mesler just “graduated” from Idlewild Elementary School. Her plans are to attend Parsons School of Design in New York, become a top fashion designer, and meet Corbin Bleu.
